Your data, our responsibility
Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 June 2026
This policy explains how What Came After (“we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal information when you use this website. What Came After is an independent documentary podcast project founded by Manya Marcus. For any privacy questions, contact us at team@wcamedia.org.
What we collect and why
When you use the contact form — we collect your name, email address, optional subject, and your message, so we can read and respond to you.
When you sign up for newsletter updates — we collect your email address so we can notify you when the newsletter launches and send you occasional updates.
Basic, anonymous usage analytics — we use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use tracking cookies and does not identify you personally. It tells us aggregate things, such as which pages are most read.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Legal basis
Under UK and EU GDPR, we process contact-form and newsletter data on the basis of your consent (you choose to submit it) and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the project. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run the site and handle submissions, including our website host, our content and submission tools, and our podcast and email tooling. These providers process data on our behalf under their own data-protection terms. We do not share your data with anyone else except where required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep contact and newsletter data only for as long as needed for the purpose it was given, after which it is deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email team@wcamedia.org. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Any cookies present are strictly necessary for the site to function.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
